When I travel, I want my skincare routine to be quick, easy, and effective.

Over the years, I’ve tested plenty of skincare products on the go. Only a handful earned a spot in my (tiny) toiletry bag. Others never made it past TSA, and honestly, that’s for the best!

I’m a minimalist when it comes to travel skincare. When you’re on vacation, the last thing you need to be worrying about is your 27-step skincare routine and how you’re going to fit all those products in your carry-on!

Still, my sensitive skin tends to act up while I’m traveling, especially after a long flight, a sweaty hike, or a full day exploring a new city.

So, I’ve fine-tuned a simple travel skincare routine that’s affordable, TSA-friendly, and convenient to use on the go – no matter where you’re headed.

Whether you’re packing for a short weekend getaway, or a long-haul flight, these compact skincare essentials will keep your skin happy without overloading your suitcase (or your budget).

FYI: This post isn’t sponsored—just me sharing my honest travel product picks!

#1. Makeup Removal on the Go

A good travel skincare routine starts with clean skin – and that means a reliable makeup remover! Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water is one of my all-time favorites, both at home and while traveling.

The 3.4 oz travel size is TSA-approved, so it’s carry-on safe. I pack mine with a little baggie of cotton rounds, so I can easily wipe off my makeup (or just refresh my skin) at any time. I especially love to have my micellar water handy after a long flight, a day in the sun, or sightseeing around town.

For extra convenience, I also bring along Neutrogena’s single makeup wipes. These individually wrapped wipes are absolutely perfect for travel. I toss them in my purse, backpack, carry-on… everywhere!

These wipes are compostable, alcohol-free, and gentle on sensitive skin. Major bonus points for being eco-friendly and no risk of spilling all over my carry-on bag!

#2. Cleanser That Works While Traveling

A gentle face wash is a must – even when you’re traveling light. Prequel’s Gleanser Cleanser is a great cleanser for dry or sensitive skin and comes in a TSA-approved 2 oz travel size!

It’s non-stripping, effective, and can be used morning and night. A wonderful option for keeping your skin clean without the irritation!

If you’re acne-prone like me, Clinique’s Acne Solutions Cleansing Foam is a fantastic travel face wash. Not only does it come in a mini size, but it also has a convenient pump and cap, making it ideal for packing.

This cleanser contains salicylic acid to help fight and prevent breakouts, which is especially useful when your skin is dealing with new environments, sweat, or airport grime.

#3. Facial Spray for Fresh Skin Anywhere

If you have not added a facial spray to your travel skincare kit, this is your sign!

There are many different types of skin sprays that provide various benefits – like hydration, relaxation, and redness reduction.

However, a hypochlorous acid spray is a game-changer for travel because it helps defend against breakouts and bacteria! Just a few spritzes refresh and sanitize your skin, without needing to rinse.

The Magic Molecule Hypochlorous Acid Skin Spray comes in a TSA-safe 2 oz bottle. And, it can double as treatment for bug bites, sunburns, even cuts! You can use this after flying, hiking, or anytime your skin needs a quick refresh.

#4. Moisturizer Worth Packing

Next up: a travel-friendly moisturizer that hydrates without heaviness. CeraVe’s Ultra-Light Moisturizing Gel is perfect for warm weather trips. It’s lightweight and fast-absorbing, but leaves my skin feeling hydrated for a long time!

At just 1.75 oz, it’s perfect for your carry-on. Bonus: the pump-top packaging keeps mess to a minimum.

For a creamier option, I also love Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer.

This moisturizer provides amazing, long-lasting hydration, but it does not clog my pores or upset my sensitive skin!

The 3 oz bottle fits in most travel bags and works beautifully for both day and night use.

#5. Don’t Forget the Sunscreen!

No travel skincare routine is complete without sunscreen – especially on vacation!

When I’m looking for a travel sunscreen, I want a product that won’t make my face all greasy, or make a mess in my luggage.

Hawaiian Tropic’s Sheer Touch Face Lotion Sunscreen provides SPF 60, and is lightweight and water/sweat resistant. The packaging is great for travel with a pump applicator and a cap to keep it from leaking.

It also works well under makeup and is made with hydrating hyaluronic acid!

Another great option is Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Face Sunscreen Serum. This non-comedogenic, fast-absorbing SPF is ideal for oily or acne-prone skin.

It wears great under makeup or on its own, and takes up minimal space in your toiletry bag.

And that’s my simple travel skincare routine: easy, affordable, and carry-on-approved!

It keeps my sensitive skin clean and moisturized on the road – without having to pack my entire bathroom cabinet.
